Was San Diego’s Monday Night Win Over Oakland Raiders a Pyrrhic Victory?

The Chargers announced today that starting NT Jamal Williams has been placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season for an elbow injury he suffered against the Oakland Raiders, in San Diego's Monday Night win.

Williams is arguably San Diego's most important defensive-player that holds up the San Diego defensive line in order to free-up the linebackers like Shawne Merriman and Shaun Phillips. 

Losing Williams can have a negative ripple effect, in which opponents can focus more attention on the hobbled Merriman, which could lead to another injury for the linebacker.

Starting defensive end, Travis Johnson, has also been hobbled by injuries incurred against the Raiders.
