Dodgers-Padres: James Loney Saves the Day with 13th-Inning Home Run

The Los Angeles Dodgers (52-30) took on the San Diego Padres (35-46) in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon at sunny PETCO Park.

The Padres trailed 6-0 in the fifth inning and looked to be put away but a late-inning rally sent the game into extra frames. They sent nine batters to the plate in the ninth inning and scored five runs to even the score at six apiece.

Chad Billingsley, who was selected to the All-Star game earlier in the day, threw eight-plus innings of inspired baseball in perhaps his best start of the season. Chad struck out five Padres but more importantly did not issue a walk on the afternoon.
