Dodgers-Mets: Late Rally Falls Short for Blue Crew in 5-4 Defeat
The Los Angeles Dodgers (53-31) lost 5-4 to the New York Mets (40-43) on Wednesday night. It was the first loss for the Dodgers in five meetings between the teams this season.
The Dodgers swept the Mets in a three-game series in May at Dodger Stadium and took the opening game of the series last night at Citi Field 8-0.
But the Dodgers went just 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position on a night when Mets starter Oliver Perez walked seven batters. They were also unable to capitalize on a scoring opportunity on Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez in the bottom of the ninth.
