Saturday Night Baseball: Elder Weaver Wins, Dodgers Beat Angels, 6-4

The brothers’ Weaver squared off on Saturday night with their parents Gail and Dave anxiously watching, as the two teams from Los Angeles met at Angel Stadium. The elder Weaver, Jeff, out pitch Jered as the Dodgers (45-24) beat the Angels (36-30), 6-4.  

It was the 21st time a pair of brothers had started against one another on the mound, and Jeff was the 12th older brother to win such a meeting.

Both Jeff and Jered exited in the sixth inning, but each had a very different night.

Jeff, who hadn’t made a start since May 20, went five innings and gave up two runs on six hits. He struck out four, and never went to a three-ball count.

Jered, who had won four straight starts, pitched five and one-third innings and surrendered six runs on 10 hits. ...
