San Francisco 49ers Sign QB David Carr, Trade QB Shaun Hill to Detroit Lions

David Carr will be purchasing yet another new home.

According to multiple reports, the 49ers have signed QB David Carr, who played for the Giants last year as a back-up to Eli Manning.

They also traded QB Shaun Hill to the Detroit Lions for draft compensation.

This leads many to believe that David Carr may have the chance to take over the starter spot from Alex Smith, who took over the last half of the season after Shaun Hill was benched.

Last season, in a backup role, Carr recorded 225 yards and a touchdown with a 64 percent passer rating for the Giants.

The 6'3", 216-pound Carr played his first five years with the Houston Texans.
