Raiders Franchise Tag Richard Seymour

As expected, the Raiders applied the franchise tag to defensive end Richard Seymour , as reported today by The Boston Herald .  The tag guarantees Richard Seymour $12.398 million this season, and is a clear symbol that the two sides were unable to work out a long-term deal.

The Raiders really had to make this move, to justify the expense of bringing Seymour in (a first round pick in the 2011 draft).  It seems obvious the organization hopes to be able to sign him to a long-term...
