Pros and Cons of Starting Randy Moss in 2012

The most tantalizing question facing the 49ers this offseason is this: What do they do with Randy Moss?

On one hand, Moss represents the perfect answer to the problem that plagued San Francisco last year: a lack of big play wide receivers.

By sticking Moss on the edge, the 49ers add a proven deep-ball threat, which forces safeties to stay back and leaves the middle of the field open for the rest of the offense. All Moss really has to do to be effective is make defenses think he’s still got that big-play ability, but it’s tough to sell that if Moss can’t even beat out Mario Manningham or Kyle Williams for a starting spot.
