Chargers Release Tomlinson

The San Diego Chargers have done the inevitable: they released LaDainian Tomlinson. The Chargers are now off the hook for his $2 million bonus and $3 million salary and will look to completely revamp the backfield this year.

They also have Darren Sproles, who is a restricted free agent and will cost $7 million to retain. And they have 32-year old Michael Bennett, who can’t play anymore and will cost $1.25 million. Bennett isn’t a concern, but finding out what to do with Sproles is something else. Sproles is a little keg of dynamite, but not big enough to carry a full load.
