Many people say the 16 jumps we took to get him was too costly.

I disagree!

With the Dolphins we had a willing trade partner. The only thing separating the Dolphins with the Seahawks (who wanted him,) was The Denver Broncos. 

I, for one think our trade went much better with the Dolphins than what it would have been with the Broncos.

Knowing how much Matthews meant to the Chargers, they may have just ignored us entirely. So no, it wasn't a stretch to get Matthews at 12.
