2010 NFL Draft: Ted Ginn Jr. Acquistion Means Drafting of Spiller or WR Unlikely

The acquisition of Ted Ginn today means that it is very unlikely that the 49ers will use a first round pick on CJ Spiller or draft a WR in the first three rounds.

Spiller's supporters touted his ability to help in the return game and make the offense more dynamic as reasons to use a first round pick on the RB out of Clemson. Ginn covers the need for a return man and bringing him to the team will likely result in Niner fans seeing a lot more three receiver sets with Ginn, Morgan and Crabtree.

Frank Gore is still only 26 years old and is a back that needs a lot of carries to get him going. Spiller would only see very limited time on the field and the Niners would be better served using a first round pick on someone who can get on the field for more downs per game.
