NBA Draft Results: Thank You Larry Riley for Drafting Epke Udoh
With the sixth pick, the Golden State Warriors drafted a power forward from Baylor, Ekpe Udoh. I was one of many fans likely breathing a sigh of relief.
Prior to the draft, Larry Riley said in press conferences that his philosophy would be to take the best available player as opposed to need. That would have been a terrible strategy.
Just because Stephen Curry was a dominant rookie doesn't mean he saved the team. The Warriors gave up 112 points per game last season—the worst in the NBA.
Curry was the best player, and I'm glad we have him. But the team ignored the need for a big defender to get blocks and rebounds, and look what happened.
