San Francisco Giants Grooming a Bryce Harper-Like Player

Bryce Harper is the phenom that baseball fanatics have been waiting for since the buzz began in 2010. He was drafted by the Washington Nationals as their second consecutive No. 1 overall pick of the Major League Baseball draft.

Something many fans may not realize is that Harper was predominantly a catcher. The Nationals drafted him as an outfielder in order to extend his career (are you listening Bochy?), and to accelerate his development so that he could get the call-up sooner.

That call came very early for Harper, April 27, and his debut was the next day against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
