Call-Up Central: Kyle Blanks, San Diego Padres

According to Baseball America (click here for the post), the San Diego Padres have recalled 1B/OF Kyle Blanks. 

Blanks was hitting .283 with 12 HR and 38 RBI at Triple-A prior to his recall.  He had been a 1B, but he was transitioning to the outfield due to being blocked by Adrian Gonzalez at 1B.

He was the best prospect the Padres had, and it is unlikely he is being recalled to simply sit on the bench. 

This weekend the Padres are playing at home against Oakland, and I would think that he would see time in the outfield, though he may not start all three games. Next week, the team travels to Seattle and Texas, meaning six straight games with a DH and a certain spot in the lineup for ...
