San Diego Padres Look to ‘Shake Up’ National League West

The San Diego Padres want to make their presence felt early this season in the attainable National League West.  Mother Nature gave the Padres a reminder of how to shake things up in their final practice before Opening Day.

The 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck in the closing minutes of a scheduled practice at PETCO Park Sunday before boarding a plane to Phoenix for today’s Opening Day game against Arizona.

After closing out the 2009 campaign with a 35-27 record, the Padres continued their impressive play into spring training action.  San Diego stole 49 bases this spring and posted a 2.55 ERA while going 11-1-1 over the final 14 games of the exhibition season.
