Plate Patience Is a Key To Improving Walk Rate

Early on in this 2009 baseball season, a few of the young San Francisco Giants players were having a rough start to their season. I decided to see if I could learn a thing or two about these exciting fresh talents, so I went to MLB.com and found some interesting data. 

In the advanced hitting stats there was a value for total plate appearances and a number for pitches seen. I divided each young player’s walks, strikeouts, and total amount of pitches by their overall plate appearances and it told some intriguing things about each guy.
