Pads End First Half On High Note

Finally, something good to write about. For one golden afternoon, the Padres finally looked like a major league baseball team. In dealing a 10-4 defeat to the San Francisco Giants today, the Padres showed power, defense and pitching all in one game. It's a start.

I have been totally down on the Pads, because I expect them to at least pretend to want to win. Today was about the current squad taking charge, and giving Padres' fans at least a shred of hope for the second half of the season.

It's not like they are completely talentless, as any team with Adrian Gonzalez and Tony Gwynn Jr. should at least be able to stay on the field with most of the National League.
