Padres’ Yasmani Grandal Makes History in First Career Start
San Diego Padres rookie catcher, Yasmani Grandal, woke up Saturday morning as a member of the Triple-A Tuscon Padres. A few hours later, he was suiting up at the starting catcher for the big-league ballclub in Colorado.
It was set to be the 23-year-old's second game in the major leagues, his first since one plate appearance back on June 2nd. Most people would be satisfied with a day like that, but apparently Grandal is not most people.
Instead of being content with the call-up, Grandal decided to do something that has never been done before in the history of baseball.
