MLB Trade Deadline: San Diego Padres Acquire Outfielder Ryan Ludwick
The San Diego Padres continued to make moves to improve their offense by going out and acquiring St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Ryan Ludwick in a three-team trade.
To acquire Ludwick the Padres sent minor league pitcher Nick Greenwood to the Cardinals and also sent minor league pitcher Corey Kluber to the Cleveland Indians as a part of the three-way deal.
Ludwick, 32, has had a solid season with the Cardinals, batting .281 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI's in 77 games.
In the last two full seasons Ludwick has been the protection for Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols. He's done a good job at it, averaging 105 RBI's and almost 30 home runs in those two seasons.
