Los Angeles Dodgers: Everybody Loves Rumors

I've recently begun to understand why guys like Jon Heyman and Ken Rosenthal whore around for rumors all day. Sure, it's part of their job description, but I think there's more to it then that.

To me, from my perch far away from the alleged sophistication and accountability of their world, it seems as if the trade deadline is when "journalists" like Heyman and Rosenthal have to justify their existence to their employers, the fans, and themselves. After all, it's when they are most relevant, most read, and most discussed.
