Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Release Outfielder/DH Bobby Abreu
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced late Friday night that they have released outfielder and designated hitter Bobby Abreu, reports Zach Links of MLBtraderumors.com.
Abreu, who was in the final season of his three-year, $9 million extension with the Halos, will now be free to test the waters as a free agent.
In spring training, Abreu was outspoken about his frustration with his potential playing time. The Angels have a wealth of outfielders and designated hitters, so Abreu was set to be a part of a platoon in both positions.
