Should the Mets Trade for Juan Pierre?

The Mets are in need of something new, and Juan Pierre may just be the answer. He is fast, and he has a .321 batting average.

The Mets are in need of some speed now that Jose Reyes is on the DL, so Pierre might be just what the doctor ordered.

His speed and experience in the majors is a good reason to go after him, and fetching him will not likely require too many valuable players because the Dodgers would likely save a lot of money in any deal.

But I do not like the idea that getting Pierre is the best way for the Mets to go.

He may have a great average, but his career on-base percentage is only .348. The Mets need guys that will get on base, not slap the ball and hope to reach base safely.
