Jonathan Sanchez Throws A No Hitter Against The Lowly San Diego Padres

Jonathan Sanchez threw a no hitter against the San Diego Padres tonight as the Giants won 8-0 in San Francisco. Sanchez threw 110 pitches this evening and was very masterful. He was able to throw all his pitches for strikes and ended up striking out 11 batters, including the last batter of the night, Everth Cabrera.

There were a lot of nice plays made by the Giants' defense, and the best play of the night was in the ninth inning with one out when Aaron Rowand caught a fly ball  hit by Edgar Gonzalez in center field that seemed destined to go over the wall for a homer.

This was Sanchez' fifth no hitter in his career but his first in the majors. Sanchez threw four no hitters in college.
