NFL Made the Wrong Call About the San Francisco 49ers & Oakland Raiders

As far as I can determine from all the news stories, the guys involved in a shooting at Candlestick Park were familiar with one another and had old grudges.  That the fact that they should shoot one another on Candlestick property would cause the NFL to cancel a whole series of games between cross-the-bay rivals boggles my mind. I had a reaction contrary to the popular reaction to this. 

Can it really be the NFL made this decision because one wore a slightly offensive tee shirt?  Offensive to whom, I must ask.
